Located in Boston’s South End, this distinctive cylindrical, red-brick building was originally built in 1828 as a gas tank to hold the gas used to fuel Boston’s lanterns. The building later became a motion-picture hall and was also used for light manufacturing and storage. Vacant for 60 years, the building was transformed into a hotel in 2001. Now, guests enjoy the experience of sleeping in a historic Boston structure.
The hotel is 2 miles from the downtown Boston core, and complimentary transportation to Logan Airport is provided with advance notice, along with local shuttle service to nearby subway stations, medical centers, and convention centers. The hotel has a small fitness center on site, and serves a complimentary Continental breakfast every day.

The cylindrical hotel’s 92 guestrooms are well-lit, with large windows. Rooms are decorated in contrasting bright colors and subdued earth tones. All suites have sofa beds as well as refrigerators, microwaves, and wet bars (sinks). Executive suites have bedrooms that are separated from living areas with French doors. All rooms also offer dial-up Internet access and Nintendo 64 video-game consoles (fee applies).
